Matt Meyer is the 76th Governor of Delaware, serving since 2025. A Democrat and former New Castle County Executive (2017–2025), Meyer is known for his progressive agenda and emphasis on government accountability. Prior to elected office, Meyer was an attorney, public school teacher, economic advisor, and U.S. State Department diplomat in Iraq. As governor, he has prioritized affordable housing, universal pre-K, medical debt relief, and corporate retention in Delaware. Meyer is recognized for converting a hotel into the Hope Center, Delaware’s largest emergency housing shelter, and for his efforts to modernize state government. He lives in Wilmington with his wife, Dr. Lauren Meyer, and their son.
