Branding Reach After 1st Debate (1)

The debates have begun! As the 2020 elections get closer, we will see who becomes the candidate to go up against Donald Trump. But these days, just watching the news and listening to pollsters is not enough to predict who will be the next President. Remember 2016? Newscasters made it was clear to everyone voting Blue that there was no way in the world the reality television star would be the next President. Of course we all know how that played out. Looking back now, we should have known by the enormous following Donald Trump has cultivated on Social Media sites like Twitter, Instagram and Youtube, that his brand had a massive reach. So now, we will look at the 2020 Candidates, and have a look at their Branding Reach at the end of the month of June 2019, the month of the first Democratic Debate.

Widely regarded as the big winner from the first debate, Kamala Harris increased her Branding Reach Score more than any other candidate. She had many great moments, but by far the most impressive was early on in the night while two men around her were arguing. “Hey guys, you know what?” the senator from California said, as everyone onstage quieted down and turned to her. “America does not want to witness a food fight; they want to know how we’re going to put food on their table."

Bernie Sanders is definitley the most popular candidate from a social media standpoint. It was his ideas that dominated the questions on the second night of debates. It was a reminder of just how popular the senator from Vermont’s ideas have become since his first campaign, in 2016: His policies have dominated discussion for much of the past three years, which is especially true when it comes to health care. When asked about the pragmatism of progressives’ proposals, Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado said, “I agree with Bernie” on his goal of universal health care.
